Working with B3 Design

B3 Design follows a thoughtful, disciplined process developed to bring clarity to complex residential projects. Each phase builds on the one before it, allowing decisions to be made intentionally, expectations to remain aligned, and projects to move forward without unnecessary stress.

The bespoke experience prioritizes early clarity, careful planning, and consistent documentation so that creative vision and execution remain aligned from start to finish.

Phase 1: Discovery

The process begins with an initial inquiry, questionnaire, and Discovery Call to establish overall goals, priorities, scope, and timing.

If the project appears to be a strong fit, a First Appointment is scheduled to walk the home, discuss needs in greater detail, and assess opportunities and constraints.

Following this phase, a detailed Letter of Agreement is prepared outlining the scope of work and a flat Design Fee. This step establishes clarity and alignment before design work begins.

Phase 2: Groundwork

Groundwork focuses on building a strong foundation for the project.

Key objectives are refined, measurements are gathered, reference materials are reviewed, and communication rhythms are established.

This phase ensures that expectations are clear and that all future decisions are grounded in a shared understanding of priorities, budget considerations, and project parameters.

Phase 3: Conceptual Design

Conceptual Design translates information gathered in earlier phases into an initial design direction.

This may include space planning, layout studies, aesthetic direction, preliminary material ideas, and early budget ranges.

Concepts are reviewed and refined to ensure the direction feels cohesive, appropriate to the architecture, and aligned with how the home will be used.

Phase 4: Design Specification

Once the design direction is approved, details are fully developed, this phase includes final selections for finishes, furnishings, lighting, custom elements, and technical documentation as required.

Drawings, specifications, and visual tools are used to clarify scale, proportion, and execution.

Investment levels are refined and confirmed so decisions can be made with confidence before procurement begins.

Phase 5: Procurement & Project Coordination

After design approval, B3 Design manages sourcing, ordering, tracking, and coordination of approved items.

This includes communication with vendors, trades, and contractors to support accurate execution.Items are scheduled, received, inspected, and prepared for installation to minimize delays and reduce disruption.

Coordination at this stage helps ensure the design intent is carried through accurately.

Phase 6: Installation & Completion

Installation brings all elements together.

Furniture, lighting, and materials are placed, adjusted, and reviewed to ensure cohesion and completion.

Styling and accessories are treated as a defined final phase, bringing warmth, balance, and personality to the space.

A project is considered complete only when all elements have been resolved and the home feels finished rather than simply furnished.

Why This Process Works

Clarity Before Commitment

Early definition of scope, priorities, and investment creates alignment and reduces costly surprises later in the project.

Disciplined Sequencing

Design decisions are made in the correct order, preventing rework, delays, and unnecessary complexity.

Documented Decisions

Clear documentation keeps all parties aligned and supports accurate execution throughout the life of the project.

Thoughtful Completion

Styling and final details are treated as a defined phase, ensuring spaces feel cohesive, intentional, and fully resolved.

Who The B3 Design Experience Is Best Suited For

This process is well suited to clients who want a spectacularly designed home and value clarity, organization, and professional guidance throughout a complex design project.

It works best for those who appreciate thoughtful planning, transparent communication, and a measured approach to decision-making.

This process may not be the right fit for clients seeking rapid, informal decisions, managing trades independently, or prioritizing speed over planning and cohesion.
